I’ve gotten to know DubTurbo pretty well over the past couple months, and I LOVE IT! It’s got better quality, easier navigation and more intuitive features than a lot of other beat-makers I’ve used, like Sonic Producer. If you’re curious about getting it, I’d definitely take the plunge with it, but if you want more info on it, keep reading for my full review on it!
My Complete Review on DubTurbo
Here’s the Truth: In the past, it was really frustrating to try and make beats that actually sounded like they could have been professionally made. I wasted a lot of time and money trying to find the right program to use to make my beats, and that is:
A) Not Super Expensive
B) Has a user-friendly interface
C) Professional-Sounding Quality
D) Inspires Great Music
I can honestly say that Dub Turbo meets every one of those points. Actually, I’d match Dub Turbo up pretty well against some of my other more expensive goods. And, the best part is….the program is fun and addicting to use!
If you’re not sure if you outta take the plunge and buy the software, I would say…BUY IT! I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
They had warned me that it could get addictive, man oh man, they weren’t kidding! I’ve become a freakin loner, turning down party invites, so I can chill at home and bang out sick beats (favorite beverage in hand of course). My average amount of sleep has been greatly reduced as well, I’m up all night making beats! Interestingly, I have actually saved a lot of money from not going out all the time like I did in the past. That, plus constantly working on my music has made much more productive, and my dream of professional music-production is getting closer!
Alright, so you want to know EXACTLY what Dub Turbo does so well?
1) It puts you in the “big leagues” – Its music is what they called “broadcast quality”
Anyone who knows anything about making music knows that a 44.1K Wave file beats the pants off of a .mp3 file. Why is that? Simply put, it’s a higher quality all around. There is no data compression, and there is just MORE sound to be taken in through the file. When you’re listening to a pro’s mix, that’s why the kick drum “pops” hard enough to practically knock you over. When you compare that sound quality with what you get in the .mp3 version, well, it’s like comparing a black-and-white cartoon to full 3D movie.
If you have any aspirations of making and selling beats for a living, you gotta be working with the industry standard in sound quality. DubTurbo gives you that quality.
2) Ability to produce full and intricate songs
With the sequencer that comes with DubTurbo, you can create an entire song, not just a 30 second loop that repeats. If you wanna compete with the big dogs, you gotta have beats with this level of sophistication. You can’t reach that with a 30 second loop. You need an introduction section that is unique from the main part of the song, you have to have a hook section with some syth melody or another sample. You have to have a break-down loop that’ll keep people listening, and a “vamp” section that repeats the hook and builds momentum. Finally you blow them away with a killer ending, or, “outro”.
Try doing all of that with a looper. It’s impossible. But when using Dub Turbo, you have the ability to do all of that, actually compose an entire song around vocals.
Here, take look at what I’m discussing here:
*This picture takes you to DubTurbo.com (watch the tutorial video there)
3) Beat Machine
Dub Turbo’s beat machine is absolutely SICK. When you’re talking about a hip hop music production suite, everyone knows that the beat machine is “Make it or Break it”. The beat machine in Dub Turbo is exceptional in all of the critical areas. When I say critical areas, I’m talking about ease of use, amount of features and flexibility.
Flexibility - Dub Turbo’s beat machine is extremely flexible. It’s nothing like those other clunky beat makers that don’t give you the ability to craft any beat you got banging in your head. In my experience with Dub Turbo, I’ve found that not only can I make whatever beat is in my head, I can actually make them better by using Dub Turbo. This leads into my 2nd point…
Ease of Use - Making music is tough enough, without having to deal with an unintuitive and cumbersome interface. This beat machine makes it easy and fast to navigate and get done what you need to do. In other words, it makes for a extremely smooth transition to your speakers from your head.
Another great thing is the ability to knock out beats on your keyboard. Not too long ago, you had to ave really expensive gear or sick programming skills to make this happen.
The ability to simply sit at your keyboard and immediately start making the beats that have been running through your head all day by hitting the keys is so nice. When you’re working with an artist, this feature comes in really handy. All you gotta do is get the artist’s part down just they way they want it to be, and perform it on the keyboard the same way.
Here’s a Tip for You: When I’m having a rough time getting a part down just right, slowing down the tempo so I can focus on nailing the timing of it makes a huge difference. Once I got it just how I want it, I crank the tempo back up, and BAM!…Sweet-Sounding Perfection!
Very Well Organized/Lots of Features
The firs time you open up Dub Turbo, take a look at how the program is put together. I bet you’ll notice right away that Dub Turbo’s interface and organization style is extremely different than most other beat machines you’ve worked with. I’m told that the creators wanted it have more of a Web 2.0 feel to it, which I really like. It’s not only functional and easy to navigate, but it’s strangely elegant through all of it.
4) Four Octave Keyboard
As I was growing up through school, I played a lot of piano. If you haven’t played piano yourself, I bet you can still imagine how the tiny mini-keyboard that is standard with most beat-makers is extremely frustrating. Especially when you’re trying to make a sweeping melody that goes from high to low notes. With Dub Turbo’s 4 octave keyboard, that problem is solved.
Drawbacks to Dub Turbo
-In my mind, there really is only one major drawback to Dub Turbo. Which is that you cannot access it from any computer, like you can with some other beat makers that online. But, the reason for that is that it’s too big of a program, to complex to be all based online. It has be installed on a computer to run properly. That’s the case with any professional music making program.
That’s pretty much it. Other than that, I don’t have any real complaints about Dub Turbo. It gives you the ability to make incredible music, and it is so affordable. It’s what, like $30, right? Plus, if you don’t like, just return it for a full refund, no big deal.
Hope this in-depth review helped you get a closer look at DubTurbo. Like I’ve said many times already, it is a great product that makes beat-making easy, fun and addictive. If you’re on the fence, buy it now!

There is an increasingly growing fanbase of the techno music genre as it is truly unique and creative from other types of music. Techno is actually influencing a lot of artists. While it may still have to close in a gap from other largely popular genres, techno is definitely a successful underground music movement turned mainstream. You do not really need any fancy expensive equipment to make your own techno beats. All you need is the willingness to learn and the creativity to come up with new and interesting beats. Here, I am going to show you where to start to be able to create your own techno beats.
Techno beats is made up by the artist himself or herself and then the equipment used. Let us first take care of you as a techno artist. None of formal music theory education or music degree matters in techno which is the reason why it attracts many people. it also does not require the knowledge of playing various instruments though you will find soon it is helpful and a lot easier in creating unique sounds as a combination with techno. Again, you do not need a huge financial start. You simply need dedication as it takes a great deal of work to learn how to operate techno mixers and an even greater deal of work to promote the music you produced.
Decide on a particular style. Think of what identity you want to have as a techno artist and what will set you apart from all the hundreds of thousands of artist out there. It just takes one distinct characteristic or tone in your music to set people off and become a fan. While there are still rules with techno music, they are practically flexible so much so that you can work without limitations.
If you are having a hard time answering these starter questions, it is okay. Simply decide on a musical influence you have or listen to a lot of music that does not necessarily have to be limited to techno genre. You are actually likely to produce a different kind of beats by being exposed to a different kind of genre and incorporating it with techno. Give a good amount of thought on this signature.
That is really all that matters to you as an artist. Now, you can turn your attention to your tools. You can use any type of instrument you want to record with but make sure that you have a good recording and mixing software. I am talking about capabilities to produce high quality and distinct sounds. Now, that may seem like something that requires money but you can actually buy great software within your budget such as Dub Turbo.

Not only is that a bad start for being an original techno artist but that is also plagiarism.
While it is not necessary for you to know any instruments, you will have to understand and remember a few techno music terms such as various types of synth or what a bassline, phaser, etc. is. Techno, like rap, hip hop and R&B music, will be composed of various tracks and arrangements. It is important to learn these to make sure that you come up with fresh sounds.
If you ever get stuck and all beat makers do, do not worry about it. Try to clear your head and think in a quiet environment to help you clearly imagine what type of sound you would like to record. If this is not working, take some more inspiration depending on what you like such as listening to more music or taking in a beautiful scene. Beat makers or music producers handle a lot of the responsibility of keeping an industry people love so much alive. These people are responsible for making a song sound great or terrible. If you want to break in to the music scene and write a record breaking and chart topping song, here is how you can begin.

Enjoy every moment you spend learning how to play the keyboards or drum sets and to operate mics and other equipments around for input and recording. A lot of artists actually even started being assistants to then top producers. Their work involved setting up mics and instruments. This is not bad actually as you get to know more how to handle every detail of recording beats and would be good background to your portfolio.
Of course, while being a producer’s assistant can only go as far as increase your exposure to the music industry itself, you have to do some work behind this. Practice creating your beats as much as you can. The great thing about today is that beat making does not necessarily require a music degree nor any previous formal knowledge about music itself.

Now that you have the skills to make the beats, it is time to put in a lot of hard work to shine through all of your competitors. If you are one of them and are looking to strike a major deal, you should aim to stand out as a music producer. As a beginner in any industry, there will always be a struggle of getting sales, getting booked in gigs and eventually landing a major recording contract. This is understandable as you are not only competing with unsigned but also signed artists. To gain some upper hand, try to gain a good understanding of the business. If it is really good, perhaps even a famous artist would like to use it for the next big song. Therefore, originality is really one of your biggest weapons in this battle for fame and success.
Keep reinventing yourself so that you can finally come up with the beats that will take you to the top. And make sure that you are making quality sounding beats using a top software like Dub Turbo. Dub Turbo review will show you all of the exciting features you can use to create pro-level beats at an affordable cost.
Creating R&B beats are very much similar to the process of making hip hop or pop beats. There are certain rules that you can follow but it offers a lot more flexibility. If you have had any experience mixing these types of beats, R&B should be easy. There are a few basic steps you could use to guide you to create R&B beats.
First, decide on what style you would like you to be identified with. There are lots of ways you can make this step easy by simply choosing a certain R&B artist you greatly admire or by listening to a great variety of music. Remember that people are always looking to hear something original and that should be what you aim for. It does not matter if it starts out as a bit far from the usual. Just continue experimenting with your beats until you find something you are comfortable with.
Learn about songs and the way it is structured. Focus on the different formatting of songs and decide on how you would like to format yours. Songs are usually divided into intro, verse, chorus and bridge and songs will usually sound different depending on how these parts are ordered. Try to listen to your favorite R&B songs and see how the artists formatted it. Then, turn you attention to how many bars are arranged for each.
Remembering that R&B songs are mainly divided into the vocals and the beats. Then beats are further divided into various tracks. Beats act as the support for the rhythm of the artist’s voice. Music producers also compose their songs with instrumental loops, kicks, snares or hi hats to make the sounds more complicated and interesting to listen to. Use these various sounds to deliver the main emotion of the song. Always practice and try to learn chords or basic melodies to keep your melodies fresh.
After you have gotten a good grasp of how you want your R&B songs to sound like, it is now time to layer, mix and record it. Layering and mixing are the steps after composing each track and sound that will complete you song and involves the proper arrangement of the beats and everything else in terms of timing, volume and so on.
To keep this step as easy as possible, always practice using your instruments. Learn what are some of the modern technologies you can use to help keep beat making easy and as perfect as possible. Do not be afraid to add your own sounds like brass instruments and lead synthesizers. It would also help a lot if you can learn how to make use of a keyboard or the drums though not necessary. Percussions are necessary for any type of music when the artist wants to make an emphasis.
One type of technology you can definitely use is called Dub Turbo which is a beat making software. It is a system that offers a wide range of features that are mostly used by real pros in beat making but can be just as easily learned by any beginner. Learn more information about it on this Dub Turbo review.
R&B is one of the most popular genres today. When you hear about R&B, you mostly think about famous artists like Usher, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Ne-Yo, all of which have topped the charts at some point. If you want to work or follow these talented R&B musicians, take these useful pointers in creating or mixing R&B beats.
Think of what all these artists have? Style. This will be your calling card in the music industry. If you are bold enough to make a music of your own and experiment to find your original beats, you are surely on the right path in R&B. While at first you may feel like you cannot find your signature style to stand out as an R&B musician, it really just takes time and patience in learning your equipments and exploring R&B itself. A good place to start is to ask yourself the message you are aiming to say through your music or the purpose of creating your beats. After this, you simply have to figure out how you can deliver the same emotions to your listeners.
Perhaps the best thing about learning music is that you are urged to listen to more songs daily. While you may often do this, focus now on the beats, loops and bass line to be able to study R&B music. You can also examine the artist’s style and how they use it to work for the song. Diversify your taste in music as you may find it is sometimes helpful for artists to mix two unlikely genres together to create a very special beat like Dr. Dre and orchestral hits or Pharell blending brass instruments.
The first steps to becoming an R&B artist involves forming yourself as the type of artist you want to be and identified as. After this, it requires you gain a good knowledge with the equipments most music producers use such as sequencers and beat making software.
As one rule, the vocals should always be the main element of a song and the beats should not overpower it. You should experiment as much as you can with the instruments but do not pile too many on one beat. What you want to do is make the beat complement the vocals and not compete with it.
Learn the format of every song which is generally intro, verse, chorus and bridge. You can change these up into various combinations once you get very comfortable with them. It is important to know formatting so that you know how to arrange your instruments or how many bars to compose. As you are a beginner, you will generally only use 8 bar loops but you will learn that these can change into complex forms like 2 or 4 bar intro, 16 bar verse, 8 bar chorus and so on.
To properly create your beats, make sure you use a quality software. A good place to arrange your beats is in Dub Turbo. This is a pro-level software offering full functionality yet easy for beginners to learn. Read this Dub Turbo review to find out more information.
If you fully appreciate and want to learn the art of creating rap beats, here is the right way to do it. Though people are free to express and interpret music as they desire, there are rules that you should follow to maintain its form. However, rap differs from other genre in that it has more flexible rules. The single most important element of rap is the beat. It can be very complex and therefore difficult to create but when done right will surely attract and captivate many listeners
Contrary to what most people know, rap beats can also go beyond minimalistic bass drum beats. When a beat undergoes a long process, it can become sophisticated as it is composed of more and more tracks put melodically together.
First, get quality sounds. Do not settle for 808 kick or a low quality MIDI snare. No matter how long you spend creating the beats, it will have no flair to people. Take your time trying to find the right drum kits and loops to form your beats. You can do your search online and while some are free you can up the quality you receive by making cheap purchases. When you buy kits, it usually already comes as a package complete with kicks, snares, hi-hats and claps. This is recommended as you are only starting out making rap beats. However, when you get to a more experienced level, you can freely experiment and create your own sounds.
Every genre has their own beat and they differ mainly on the structure and rules implemented in creating the beat. For instance, you will find hip hop beats in general have syncopated kicks, snares or claps on alternate bars. Gain a good understanding of the beat structures by simply listening and paying close attention on the beats.
Create your own instrumental loops. Some of the most famous artists use these loops as their own signature style such as the sound of synths and ethnic instruments or even orchestral hits. Just like beats, loops make a good rap beat though there are also a few songs which can survive without this element. Think also of these instrumental loops as another way you could convey an emotion or message in your song. It is okay if you start out simple with your first few beats but do not be afraid to combine and experiment.
Rap beats are also made up of subtle elements like bass lines. These are not normally noticed as much as the beat itself but add a “background” to your song. Use a bass line to compliment the loop. Be careful as to not overpower any other elements in your song.
Then, learn how to use sound effects every now and then such as snares, claps or bass boost. Again, be careful with adding this element as it only serves as a compliment or as an emphasis to a certain part in your song.
Finally, to create and put these all together, you need a good computer software that is both packed in features and affordable like the Dub Turbo. Give this a try to start working on your rap beats. Learn more about it on this Dub Turbo review.
If you are only beginning to learn how to create or mix rap beats, here are some of the best tips you can learn and use to develop the skills you will need as a pro. By simply following some of these guidelines, you are giving yourself a good start and eliminating that intimidating notion people normally have about creating music in general.
The most important thing you want to have in any type of music is character. Develop your own style of rap beats. As you may know, beats or the bass drum is the foundation of all rap music and what will separate it from other songs. Of course, you do not want to simply create generic sounds. Try to create beats with original loops and samples that are unique. Sounding unusual is actually a lot better than being unoriginal.
It would also help you a lot if you have knowledge of playing an instrument to help write your own melodies though it does not come as a prerequisite of mixing rap. Otherwise, you can also be inventive with some loops and beats you can download online by putting your own tweaks. You can actually make a beat sound entirely different if you know how to properly blend them and knowing this comes with your courage to experiment.
You can also have an inspiration per beat or a certain artist whom you admire the work of but remember to put your own elements to it. Even if you do not start out as good as how others sound, keep inventing your own beats and spend an equal time in mixing and composing so that you may eventually develop your own signature style.
Of course, you do not want any trouble so never plagiarize another artist. If you are to use their samples, you need to ask the artist’s permission when the material is copyrighted. There are some samples that you can find which are actually licensed for public use. Read any fine prints before downloading and mixing any samples you find online.
Music is one of the best forms of human expression but that does not mean your beats should have hateful or pointless speech or messages. This is never a good way to use rap unless you practice this right and carefully choose or plan the way the song will sound and the message it carries to listeners. Remember that music does not have specific targets and everyone will hear this.
Because you are still a beginner at making or mixing rap beats, you can start with just simple drum and bass tracks then adding synth lines and pad after you have mastered it. Always remember how beats matter a great deal in a rap song. To do this you need an MIDI keyboard or a sequencing software. The former is something that most pros use and requires knowledge in formal music but the latter can easily be learned and used by anyone.
Even if you are a pro at rapping already, it is not really advisable to use expensive software when there are tons out there which are cheap yet offer functionality similar to that used in big recording studios. This sequencing software is called Dub Turbo. Check out this Dub Turbo review to see the stretch of amazing features this affordable software has.
Hip hop music has very unique and distinct sounds and beats which is the reason why it has become a very popular genre. It can capture the mind and interest of any person from its lively and energetic vibe making it a core for popular dance moves or foundation for various dance groups. If you want to be able to learn how to properly mix hip hop songs, you have to obtain an ear for two of the most crucial aspects of hip hop which are the vocals and the beat. While most mixers rely on their talents and preferences as it is an art, there are still some rules that you can follow to ensure that you do hip hop justice.
Hip hop as with all types of music should be felt. There should be a groove feeling otherwise, it will be ineffectual or even worse, sound like noise. As a mixer, it is your job to feel the music first. Think of what message or sentiments you are trying to convey through it or perhaps what thoughts were going through your head when you were creating or mixing the beats. This is very important to become a successful hip hop artist or producer.
The core of every hip hop beats created is the bass. Think of it as the heartbeat of the entire length of the song. The bass is also greatly responsible for the groove. The bass drum does not necessarily have to sound the same as every other hip hop song you have heard but you generally want it to be deep. This part must also be distinct to keep your listener’s hooked to the sound. You can freely experiment with this but remember that the bass drum is what mostly makes or breaks a hip hop song.
To play with the bass, you can use a compressor or a limiter combination with a 12 o’clock frequency. By jacking it up all the way this high, you are adding that distinctive beat and division. Again, experiment on this one on what is best as sometimes it may go far beyond the limit producing bad kick drum sounds. Hip hop is mostly a combination of deep sounds. To achieve this on your EQ, pull back on high but not the low as this will not make the mix clear. Try to also see if adjusting the mixer interface improves the sounds and beats to how you like it. You want to mix your drums first and foremost or separately from the other tracks as this will be the foundation of your beats.
If you are also mixing hip hop vocals, aim for keeping the sounds clean by keeping proper spacing in between. Eliminate the background noise though it is generally a good idea to take the proper measures for this before recording as editing it away always still leaves a trace. Put a pop filter on the mic you used for inputting the vocals. While creating the beats and vocals are generally up to your talent, remember that a good software like Dub Turbo will always help you clean up the final mix. Hip hop is more than 20 years old already and throughout this period of time, it has evolved significantly as more and more people adapt to this type of music and invent or put their own sounds and rhythm to the music. Any type of music simply requires you to be inventive, creative and explore it just like hip hop. What makes hip hop immediately recognizable? Every genuine hip hop fan can quickly identify hip hop through the beats and the rhythm. This musical expression and culture has some of the deepest roots and even gave rise to a break dancing, the beat box and DJ mixing.
If you are thinking of starting a career as a hip hop music producer, here are some of the basic rules with this culture. Hip hop does have rules to follow but the difference with this is that it can be really flexible so as to give the creator the freedom of expressing what they feel or want others to feel through their beats.
As you may know now, you can separate any hip hop song into two parts—the beats and the vocals. These two parts are then comprised of what is called tracks. You can learn this more as you move on and learn exactly how to construct your own hip hop song. Vocals can be added later after creating the beats and will ultimately depend on the rhythm or vocal abilities of the artist. If you are considering becoming a producer, what you should concentrate about is the beats.
Beats are considered as the language of hip hop. Whenever you hear a hip hop song, the bass drum acts as the heartbeat and is therefore greatly responsible on the feel of the whole song. The elements of any hip hop beat are the MIDI drum patterns or the audio drum loops, the bassline, the supporting orchestration or the synth pads, string sections, horns, etc. and the dubs and snips. These are the tracks that we have been talking about earlier on. Familiarize with this before creating a hip hop song as these will complete the beat and give it the punch or identity listeners are looking for.
Despite having these common elements and sometimes even more, the beat of a hip hop song can actually be as short as 8 bars being looped over and over again but can also go as long as 16 bars. One hip hop song can also be made up of different versions split into the verse and chorus of the song. Again, these are only rules to guide you and are flexible for you to tweak around or play with.
Once you have a rhythm figured out for the verse, chorus, break, intro and ending of your first hip hop song, it is now time to arrange it. As it was stated in the start, hip hop has vastly improved and advanced for more than 20 years now and arrangement can be easily done nowadays using software like Dub Turbo. You can use this both to create and arrange your beats in a user-friendly interface.
